Resumo

Although there has been great progress in the number of infants screened for permanent hearing loss at birth, there has also been concern about loss to followup among families whose infants screen positive. This article presents findings from a survey of 55 state and territorial universal newborn hearing screening and intervention programs and 8 site visits to evaluate progress in reaching program goals and identify barriers to successful followup.
