ResumoThis paper focuses on the hoard of silver coins found by Gennaro Pesce in Benghazi in 1939. The hoard, originally composed by about a thousand coins, was lost after the Second World War. It has been recently rediscovered – but only partially – during the research activities carried out by the Italian Archaeological Mission of the University of Urbino at Cyrene. It consists of late Hellenistic Greek coins of the Achaean League, Sicyon, Argos, Patrae and Rhodes, as well as of Roman Republican and Imperial denarii and of provincial silver coins ; the treasure closes with Trajan’s issues and its concealment must be connected with the Jewish Revolt of 115-117 AD.
