Resumo

BACnet{trademark} is a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). BACnet is currently an American national standard and CEN prestandard. The BACnet protocol can be used to integrate building automation and control products made by different manufacturers into a single, cohesive system. This paper describes the main features of BACnet, the motivation for developing the protocol, and the impact the protocol will have on manufacturers and users of building automation products.
