ResumoIn recent years Oropouche (ORO) virus has become one of the most significant causes of arboviral disease in Brazil (1). First isolated in Trinidad in 1955, OR0 virus had initially been considered a clinical novelty of little public health importance (2,3). Within the past several years, however, large epidemics of OR0 virus have been recorded in northern Brazil, where several thousand people have become infected (4-7).
