ResumoThe lessons from the university financial crisis triggered in 2013 are reviewed, and preventive actions for resource management are proposed. These actions are analyzed from the perspective of a university as a complex organizational system. The role of compliance and its forms of control are also described and discussed. The text addresses, above all, the importance of ethical values for the fulfillment of an academic mission.
