Criteria are provided for the identification of Trichomonas vaginalis in Gram-stained smears. Photomicrographs are included to aid the technologist in learning this identification technique. Statistics are also provided to indicate the incidence of detection of the organism by Gram's stain and wetmount techniques at one hospital.
