Profile of patients hospitalized with Stroke in a hospital of Vale do Taquari/RS

Resumo

Objective. The aim of the study was to characterize the profile of pa­tients with stroke admitted via the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) in medium size hospital in the Valley Taquari/ RS from 2010 to 2013. Method. Causal research, quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional census, conducted by collecting data from records of admissions for stroke, considering the type, main diseases associated, age distribu­tion, clinical manifestations, and hospitalization time. For statistical analysis, Spearman correlation and the Chi-square test was used. Re­sults. Was identified 125 patients with a diagnosis of stroke, of which 6.4% with Transient Ischemic Attack, Ischemic Stroke with 78.4% and 15.2% with Hemorrhagic Stroke, with 50.4% female and 49.6% of males. Among the major diseases associated highlight Hyperten­sion, Diabetes Mellitus, and Congestive Heart Failure. Conclusion. We observed a higher incidence of stroke, being the main driving se­quel left hemiplegia, with no difference of sex of affected patients.
