Resumo'Let no one,' wrote Jordanes in his Getica (58), 'cavil at the fact that the tribes of men make use of many names, even as the Romans borrow from the Macedonians, the Sarmatians from the Germans, and the Goths frequently from the Huns.' The relationships were, of course, not as one-sided as Jordanes presented them. There exist a number of Germanic and Hunnic names which have a marked Iranian ring. In the following list I adduced only those which are either certainly or most probably of Iranian orgin.
