ResumoIn the last few years, a scrambled NRZI-based serial digital interface system, initially used only for video but recently including audio, has been proposed and later implemented by several manufacturers. As the amount of practical video equipment with the proposed serial interface system has increased, a few problems specific to some implementation have been found. A serial interface test signal is therefore necessary to increase compatibility and reliability. The proposed codes described in this article can generate specific signals on a standard TV monitor to test for those problems. The signals can be conveniently used as a design check method in implementing a serial interface system, or for verification of a given transmission channel for the proposed scrambled NRZI serial interface system.
