Social and Political Issues

The protestants were not strange to the events that took to the crash causes by the military ones against Joao Goulart´s government, on march 31, 1964. They didn’t answer straightly to the political fact, being positioned in favor or against the break, of the institutional legality, but they expressed what they thought in relation to themes that were in the middle of the discussion involving the armed actions. The silence, the defense of the order, the accusation of the social injustices and defense of the democracy, appealing voices of the methodists in the Expositor Cristao newspaper, indicate the positioning of those evangelical ones according to the installed dictatorship.
