Resumo

Only five stratified sites are characteristic of the Paleolithic period in Lorraine, because of the absence of loess and cavities : - Vassincourt (Meuse) « Sables verts » . Temporary halt of the transition period Middle Acheulean/Upper Acheulean, established on the bank of a branch of the river Ornain at temperate interstade of the beginning of the Riss period. - Archettes (Vosges) « Rein de Péchotte » : Temporary halt of the Riss period. - Chavelot (Vosges) « Clair Bois » : A stone chipping area on for levels established inside a dolina dug in the alluvium at the Riss-Wurm and the beginning of the Wurm period. - Ludres (Meurthe-et-Moselle) « Bois de Chauvemont » : Disturbed archeological level with micoquian artefacts of the early Wurm period. - Rebeuville (Vosges) « Grottes de Jeannue » : Wurmian sequence with moustenan and magdaleman levels, very poor in artefacts.
