ResumoOn October 3 we crossed the Kien La, 18,600 feet, then once again the Marsi mik La, and camped that night in Ladak.Tankse was reached three days afterwards, and Leh on October 12.Altogether our travels carried us over 8000 miles of country, the greater part previously quite unknown to the European, while an area of 35,000 square miles was accurately surveyed.The success of the expedition was mainly due to my staunch and cheery companion, Lieut.Hargreaves; to our ever-willing, hardy, happygo-lucky Lavaki servants; and to Babu Ram Singh, the sub-surveyor, whose excellent work gained him the title of Rai Sahib.To Colonel St. G.
