ResumoThe identity of the organism which is the etiological agent of the disease in man known as histoplasmosis has long been in question. The disease was originally described by Darling (4, 5, 6) as a result of his studies among the natives of Panama when first he encountered a case characterized clinically by emaciation, splenomegaly, leucopenia, anemia, and irregular pyrexia.
