The region discussed in this article covers the seven Trucial States and the enclaves of Muscat territory in the mountain region as far south as Buraymi. The whole area has been called the Trucial Oman ('Uman) in this article whilst the name Trucial Coast has been reserved for the coast along the Persian Gulf and the Batina (Batina) Coast for those parts of the Trucial Oman facing the Gulf of Oman.
