Resumo

Twenty-eight species of freshwater mussels are reported as presently occurring in the Verdigris River system in Kansas. Many of these species were last reported in the mid-1880's. Five species are thought to have been extirpated from the system. An old record of Plethobasus cyphyus is found to be in error; it is doubtful that this species has ever been collected in Kansas.
