This article analyses the role that the marketplace plays as a meeting point in Jørn Utzon and Rafael Moneo's projects through its desire to have an influence on and transform the urban space in which it is situated.It achieves this by relating marketplaces to historical models and contextualising them within the professional careers of the two architects, from the organicism of their first projects to the compositional grouping of their additive architecture.Moreover, in order to illustrate this point, the article shows the influence that the Danish master had on Rafael Moneo's architecture.
