ResumoA laboratory furnace, electrically heated with special oxide resistors, is described. The atmosphere within the furnace is oxidizing, and definite heating and cooling schedules can be maintained. Results are given of preliminary tests in which Th02, Zr02, BeO, Ce02, MgO, and Al20 g were heated singly or in various combinations in the temperature range from 1,800 0 to 2,000 0 C.
