Our patient was ideal since he had a solitary right renal unit with a ureterointestinal anastamotic stricture. METHODS The operative steps are discussed and demonstrated in this video case report of a unique technique to manage uretero-enteric strictures. The patient is a morbidly obese male that underwent a left nephroureterectomy and cystoprostatectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for node positive transitional cell carcinoma of both the bladder and left kidney. His single right ureter was anastomosed to the ileal conduit at that time. Post-operatively, he developed acute renal failure and hydronephrosis. Antegrade pyelogram demonstrated a distal stricture that failed endoscopic management. RESULTS Minimally-invasive retroperitoneal robotic-assisted laparoscopic reimplantation of his solitary ureter into an ileal conduit was successful. The patient reported minimal pain postoperatively and required minimal narcotics. His length of stay was 2 days. Renal function remained stable and his nephrostomy tube was removed. CONCLUSIONS A retroperitoneal robotic-assisted laparoscopic approach to unilateral uretero-enteric anastomotic stricture is a feasible approach and potentially minimized an otherwise very morbid and technically difficult procedure. © 2012 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 187Issue 4SApril 2012Page: e762 Advertisement Copyright & Permissions© 2012 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.MetricsAuthor Information Jason M.
