Resumo

I was indeed fortunate in being stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, during this period and was thereby able to collect some unusual and rare fishes which I observed as the boats were unloading their fares at the various docks. I was also aided in this by the fishermen, most of whom I knew rather well, and who added many strange fish to the collection. Among those fish which I first had an opportunity to study, last spring, I came upon three specimens which appeared to be exact duplicates of one which I had collected a year previous. I had been unable to identify this specimen specifically, and had stored it away for just such a moment as this.
