ResumoOrthodox Jewish women construct community and influence shared values by organizing and reorganizing ritual food at the holiday of Purim. By introducing an option of exchange mediated by a women's organization instead of the individual homemaker, Forest Park Orthodox women negotiate a dialectic between mother culture and other culture ideals that dominate the life of New York Metropolitan area suburban Orthodox communities.
