Azadiracht in th e principle ac tive const itu ent of Azadirachta indica ranges from 0.3 to 0.6 per cent. A simplifi ed procedure, when co mpared to es tabli shed method s, has been adop ted to enri ch azadirac htinA' to 50 per cent usin g minimum poss ibl e step s without resorti ng to chromatographi c tec hniques. It in vo lves addit io nal partiti on with CCI~ before final extracti on which removes most of nimbi n, sa lanin. and allied trit erp enoid s. Enriched product find s immense utility in preparin g formulat ions with high aza dirachtin and also in iso lati ng pure azadirachtin by adopting preparati ve HPLC.
