ResumoSINCE coccidiosis is probably one of the most serious diseases of young chickens an intensive study of the effects of the disease upon the birds has been undertaken. The data reported in the following pages are the results upon the weights of artificially inoculating chickens with the sporulated oöcysts obtained either by culturing the droppings of inoculated chickens or the contents of the intestine or caeca of infected chickens at postmortem. General Methods The chickens used in these experiments were Single Comb Rhode Island Reds. The eggs from which the different lots were hatched were obtained from the same flock of hens and were incubator hatched. These hens have been tested by the Animal Pathology Department of Louisiana State University and found free from bacillary white diarrhea for the past two years.
