ResumoThe development of a new series of test objects for precise alignment and evaluation of telecine colorimetry required that a critical examination of film, telecine, and kinescope characteristics be made. An ideal telecine model was developed and utilized in both the design of the test objects and the evaluation of the color errors which would result from the use of nonstandard phosphors in the television system. Color differences were calculated for three phosphor sets (two modern and NTSC). The results demonstrate that the differences between the modern phosphor sets in common use will not cause significant color errors, whereas the differences between modern and NTSC phosphors are such that serious color errors will result when pictures generated for NTSC phosphors are displayed on modern phosphor kinescopes.
