Mythologist Joseph Campbell urged us to “follow our bliss.” Sister Helen Prejean implores readers to “find their passion and let it fuel their work.” Both speak to the place of deep feeling in shaping our characters and our zeal for work. Passion or bliss, both require a twin focus—that we scan the world around us for what might make it better while searching for what we personally find worth doing.
