Resumo

A Vatican manuscript of 1637, Codex Chigi R.I.18, compiled by Fabio Chigi (the future Pope Alexander VII) during his tenure as Apostolic Delegate in Malta, contains an autograph transcription of 23 Etruscan inscriptions from Chiusi, 10 of them already in the Corpus Inscriptionum Etruscarum, but 13 of them hitherto unknown. In addition to enlarging the corpus of known Etruscan texts, Chigi's transcript demonstrates the extent to which this famous patron of architecture and gifted scholar was inspired by his Tuscan heritage.
