gargarizans. Populations from eastern central China (Fukien) and western China (Szechwan), once synonymized with B. bankorensis, are described as B. g. popei. B. andrewsi Schmidt and B. b. wrighti Schmidt and Liu are tentatively treated as a distinct species, B. andrewsi. B. bankorensis Barbour from Taiwan is regarded as a valid species; it resembles the geographically remote B. andrewsi, but is completely distinct from adjacent populations of B. g. popei. B. minshanicus Stejneger and B. tibetanus Zarevsky are given species status. A key is provided.
