ResumoTHE following report presents the results of studies carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of gamma globulin in the prophylaxis of post-transfusion hepatitis. Some preliminary results have already been published in abstract form.1 , 2 The detected incidence of post-transfusion hepatitis varies with the method and the intensity and duration of follow-up observations. Icteric hepatitis has been reported to occur at the rate of 1 to 15 cases per thousand units of blood,3 4 5 6 7 8 but in most series it has ranged from 1 to 3 cases.
