Resumo

In 1971 Mario Vargas Llosa published a book on Gabriel Garcia Marquez which he subtitled historia de un deicidio, the history of a deicide. It was an important book for Garcia Marquez studies because it collected, in one place and with unusual thoroughness, scores of anecdotes about Garcia Matrquez and interviews by him; because it presented a good deal of biographical information; because it discussed in detail and with intelligence much of Garcia Marquez's fiction; because it advanced a comprehensive thesis about Garcia Mairquez's creativity; and because, finally, it revealed as much about Vargas Llosa as it did about Garcia Matrquez.
