This article aims at analyzing Getúlio Vargas's Diary, focusing on its discursive structures, such as the use of verbal tenses and punctuation.The article also emphasizes the importance of the meta-narrative digressions in which the author constructs a sort of reading agreement that takes into consideration a virtual reader for the Diary.The analysis of these narratives processes can lead us to a better understanding of Vargas's political attitude.
