Resumoin Chretien de Troyes' Erec et Enide, there occurs a reference to the Aeneas story whose potential relevance has never, so far as I know, been thoroughly explored. Guivret has taken the wounded and exhausted Erec to Pointurie, where the hero regains his vigor and the lovers come together as man and wife for the first time since their wanderings began: Or fu Erec toz forz et sains Or fu gariz et respassez, Or fu Enyde liee assez, Or ot sa joie et son delit.1
