ResumoJacopino del Conte belonged to the generation of Florentine painters who came to artistic maturity around 1530, and like many of his contemporaries he soon abandoned his native city for Rome.1 Although he later visited Florence and held property there, his artistic career was mainly a Roman one.2 By the middle of the century Jacopino had turned his attention primarily to portraiture, but in his earlier years he was also active as a religious painter. There is no evidence that he ever dealt with mythological or historical themes.
