ResumoA partial centrum, belonging to the extinct reptilian order Ichthyosauria, from the Kiowa Shale (Lower Cretaceous: Upper Albian) of Kansas, is described formally for the first time. The specimen tentatively is referred to Platypterygius sp. Although paleoecology of the Kiowa vertebrate fauna remains poorly understood, the specimen described herein is important for providing a record of a relatively large ichthyosaur in the Kiowa fauna.
