Resumo

The infrared absorption spectra, from 1 to 15 micron s, of I-b u tene, 2-methylpropene (isobutene) , cis-2-bu tene, trans-2-butene, and 1,3-butadiene have been recorded in the liquid phase under p ress ures suffi cient to liquify t hem at room temperature. The spectra of the same samples in the vapor phase have bee n r ecorded and are presente d for comparison.A rock-salt prism was used for the range from 2 to 15 mi cron s.The spectra of t he same samples, both liquid and vapor, were obtain ed at h igher resolution over Lh e range from 1 to 4.2 microns usin g a lit hium fluo ride prism, and a re presented for comparison .The spectra obtained from t he liqu id phase prov ide data for t he development of a procedure for t he analys is of liquid plant s tream s by spectrometri c methods.
