ResumoAs any society, the Greeks reflected on the theme of religious beliefs, now recognized as one of the relevant principles in any integral understanding of human beings (SMITH, 2001, p. 15). They sought to discuss themes of philosophy of religion, such as the existence of transcendence and its relationship with human beings, and, based on this discussion, they reflected on the existence of an immortal soul (ROHDE, 1983, p. 135). This thematic can be perceived in the writings of Plato, whose philosophy demonstrates the relevance ascribed to the existence of an immortal soul. This text aims at reflecting on the belief on an immortal soul in Plato’s thought, focusing on his works Phaedo , Phaedrus , and Republic .
