Resumo

History of Science in chemistry textbooks: electrochemistry as an object of investigation. The results of a research on the conceptions of history of science associated to the theme electrochemistry in five high-school chemistry textbooks are presented in this article. The methodology of textual analysis was applied, based on the categorization proposed by Carneiro and Gastal (2005), for the following criteria: "anecdotal stories", "linearity", "consensuality" and "absence of broader historical context".The results show, in general, a precarious approach on history of science and the distance from the desired conceptions, deemed appropriate for science literacy, which wish to dispel the naive conceptions about the nature of science and the work of scientists and overcome barriers to the learning of scientific knowledge.
