The confused flour beetle, T. confusnm Jacquelin duVal; the red flour beetle, T. castaneum (Herbst); T.destructor Uyttenboogaart; T. madens Charpentier; and T. brevicornis (LeConte) are stored-grain pests in the United States. The 6th species, T. anaphe Hinton, is amember of a species-group which is not yet establishedin this country. The pupae are distinguishable by the use of setal maps of the pronotum and of the abdominalprojections, and by the arrangement of the facets betweenthe 2 optical lobes of the compound eyes. A generaldescription of these pupae, with a taxonomic keyfor identifying them, is presented, and the systematicrelationships between them are discussed. Classificationof the species on the basis of pupal characteristics is compared with that derived by use of larval and adult characters.
