O trabalho trata do naufrágio do vapor Bahia, pertencente à Companhia de Navegação Brasileira por Vapor, localizada no município de Goiana - PE, no mar adjacente à praia de Ponta de Pedras, a cerca de 6 milhas da costa, em uma profundidade de 25 m. O vapor Bahia foi a pique após abalroar-se com o vapor Pirapama, pertencente à Companhia Pernambucana de Navegação por Vapor. Na época do acidente, não foi possível averiguar quem foi o responsável, visto que apenas as avarias do vapor Pirapama foram examinadas, porque a Marinha do Brasil não possuía em seus quadros técnicos mergulhadores que inspecionassem o vapor naufragado, permanecendo a incógnita até os dias atuais. ABSTRACTThe paper deals with the Bahia steam wreck, belonging to Brazilian Navigation Company for Steam, located in the municipality of Goiana - PE, in the adjacent sea to the beach of Ponta de Pedras, about 6 miles from the coast, at a depth of 25 m. The Bahia steam went down after ramming it with the Pirapama steam belonging to Pernambuco Navigation Company for Steam. At the time of the accident was not possible to ascertain who was responsible, since only steam breakdowns Pirapama were examined, due to the Brazilian Navy did not have in their technical staff divers inspect the wrecked steam, remaining the unknown to the present day.Keywords: Underwater Archaeology; Bahia steam; Pirapama steam;
