ResumoRecorded from Honduras for the first time with supporting data are the following: Roeboides guatemalensis and Hyphessobrycon tortuguerae (Characidae), Gymnotus cylindricus (Gymnotidae), Rivulus tenuis (Cyprinodontidae), Melaniris c.f. chagresi (Atherinidae), and Cichlasoma dowi and C. robertsoni (Cichlidae). Roeboides salvadoris and R. bouchellei are synonymized with R. guatemalensis, the type locality of which is restricted to Panama (Rio Chagres) by selection of a lectotype. Rivulus godmani and R. hendrichsi are synonymized with R. tenuis. Three species of Melaniris are recognized from Honduras, with a tabulation of their distinctive traits, and the contrast in distribution and ecology of atherinids on the two slopes of Central America is briefly discussed.
