No decorrer do seculo XX a geografia de Rondonia passou por diversas transformacoes estruturais em sua relacao homem-natureza e sociedade-espaco. Baseado na tese do geografo Milton Santos sobre os meios geograficos natural, tecnico e tecnico-cientifico-informacional, o texto analisa as mudancas espaciais evidenciadas em Rondonia, indicando os elementos estruturadores do espaco regional. Assim, o meio natural manifestou a producao extrativista e a circulacao ferroviario-fluvial. A colonizacao agricola, a migracao camponesa, a construcao das estradas e a formacao das cidades produziram o meio tecnico. A coerencia regional de Rondonia sera afetada pela hidrovia Madeira-Amazonas e a producao da soja, somada a urbanizacao e a modernizacao da pecuaria, ambos os processos instauradores do meio tecnico-cientifico-informacional. SPACE, SOCIETY AND NATURE IN RONDONIA Abstract During the twentieth century, the geography of Rondonia went through several structural transformations in its human-nature and society-space relationship. Based on the thesis of the geographer Milton Santos about the geographical environments: natural, technical and technical-scientific-informational, the text analyzes the spacial changes evidenced in Rondonia, indicating the structuring elements of the regional space. Thus, the natural environment expressed the extractivist production and the railway and waterway transport. The agricultural colonization, the peasant migration, the road construction and the formation of the cities produced the technical environment. The regional coherence of Rondonia will be affected by the Madeira-Amazon waterway and soybean production, added to the urbanization and the modernization of the livestock, both processes were founders of the technical-scientific-informational environment.
