Resumo

A comparative study of the Uricult dip-slide procedure with conventional quantitative cultural techniques has demonstrated that the dip-slide method is a reliable system for the enumeration of bacteria in urine. The device eliminated or minimized many of the problems associated with the transport of urine specimens to the laboratory, and its use will result in cost savings to most institutions. The dip-slide is simple to use and offers an acceptable and reliable alternative to the quantitative culture of midstream urine specimens.
