Resumo

The determination of the riparian zone, the area of direct influence of the rivers that define the area of preservation, is far subjective. In this context, this study was to evaluate the phenology of four native and abundant species in this system in order to relate the phenological variation between individuals and the distance from the stream. The plots were established on the left bank of the River Gualaxo the Northern Mariana County, Minas Gerais, an area that today is affected by mining. The species chosen were those that had higher frequencies and are present in all tracks: Cupania vernalis, Hyeronima alchorneoides, Inga sessilis and Croton floribundus. It was concluded that the distance of the river influenced the fall of leaves of C. vernalis., H. alchorneoides.and I. sessilis. The fall of leaves of the species C. floribundus apparently not influenced by distance from river.Individuals of the specie Inga sessilis showed flowering, which also was related to the distance from the stream.
