Resumo

Trying to articulate a critical sociocultural frame confronted by the challenges of contemporary professional university education on communication, the author sketches some conceptual relations concerning communication as a meaningful social practice and university as a social space where a social project aimed to communicative democracy can be fostered, tending to be deformed by exagerated concerns about the new technological mediations in social life.
