ResumoThis book is a follow-up to a similar 1979 effort entitled Nabokov & Others: Patterns in Russian Literature, wherein "the others" (Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol', Tolstoi and Dostoevskii), shared six of thirteen chapters with Nabokov. The focus of "Volume II" is much more balanced among the classics and Nabokov. In order of appearance and with Rowe's subdivi- sions bracketed, the book's contents are: [Chekhov] "Chekhov: The Birds of Passion"; "Chekhov's Projecting Images"; "Chekhov's Emotional Green Focus"; [Tolstoi] "Some Revealing Connections in Anna Karenina". "On Levin as a Pivotal Figure"; "Some Plays of Meaning In Anna Karenina"; [Dostoevskii] "Dostoevsky's Anticipatory Style"
