Resumo

Editor: Thanks to Dr. Edwin Leap for that tellin’ of one of my favorite tales of the old west. (“If the Pioneers Loved Pain Medicine Like We Do!” EMN 2009; 31[9]:16.) However, he left out one of my favorite parts: when the pioneers were a-travelin’ in the small mining town of west ER. There they came upon a bad man, ol’ Doc Black Bart, who refused to resupply our heroes with Percocet 10s, and called them all a bunch of yellow-bellied seekers. Thankfully, brave Sheriff Adam Ministrator came to their rescue, and had Black Bart fired when his satisfaction scores plummeted. That will always be my favorite tellin’ of that trying time in our nation's history. Thanks for keeping it real. Ol’ Doc Jake Chachkes, MD, SWV (Side Winding Varmint) Lumberton, NC Dr. Leap responds: Dear Ol’ Doc Chachkes, Consarn it, I clean forgot the tale of that rascal Black Bart and the pen-wielding Sheriff Ministrator! A wicked tale of back-stabbing and claim-jumping, to be sure! I'll be sure to include it in the dime-novel I write about those heady days of Westward expansion: “Pecos Pill and the Bandits of Fentanyl Gulch!” Have a pain free day, Doc F. Rog Leap, Scout and Medicine Man.
