ResumoA few months after Edoardo Amaldi died in 1989, his son Ugo began to sort through his papers. Amaldi had been a member of the internationally acclaimed group of Rome during the 1930s, a gathering of young nuclear physicists which included Enrico Fermi and Emilio Segrè. While the others fled Italy in the years preceding the Second World War, Amaldi remained in Rome.
