STRATlGRAPHY AND PETROGRAPHY OF THE ORDOVICIAN IN BRZEZINY NEAR MORAWlCA (HOLY CROSS MTS., CENTRAL POLAND) The writers present in detail the stratigraphy and petrography of the Ordvician in Brzeziny, where a full cycle of sediments from the Tremadocian through the Caradocian is observable. In the Holy Cross Mountains the Llanvirnian stage is defined for the first time. It consists mainly of chamosite-siderite rooks, indicative of the sedimentary origin of the iron ore concentration. The events of the sedimentary cycle and the paleogeographic conditions of the previous basin are depicted and the problem of correlation with other profiles of the Polish Ordovician is discussed.
