A comparative study of the bird fauna was performed in Navegantes and Gravata beaches in Navegantes City and in Mar Grosso, do Gi and Itapiruba beaches in Laguna City, from August 1989 to December 1992. In these two areas were registered 32 species, with the first record of Calidris pusilla and Stercorarius sp. for Santa Catarina State. Based on these species it was calculeted the diversity and similarity index for these two areas. They show high values for diversity and they are very similar in its bird fauna.
