Tea Polyphenols and Effects
ResumoThe present work attempts to discover the anti tumour effect of drinking Jiaogulan and Oolong tea in two groups of mice infected with tumour. The results showed that those who each drank 150 mg of Jiaogulan and 30 mg of Oolong tea per day (the treatment group) lived significantly longer ( P 0.05) than those who drank water only (the control group); there was a delay of 7~8 days for the occurrence of death in the treatment group; the treatment produced a significant effect of inhibition on the growth of tumour ( P 0.05~0.001) at the early and middle stages; and the apparent living quality of the treatment group was better than that of the control group. However, an administration of Jiaogulan at 30 mg per day showed no such effect. In addition, Oolong tea had a strong effect of inhibition on the proliferation of a variety of tumour cell lines in culture bottles, with the average rate of inhibition being86.2% and the strongest effect resulting from a concentration of 200 μg/mL.
