Larval morphotype species 1 (Smith & Miller, 1996) of Leptocephalus holti Schmidt, 1909 is recorded for the third time from the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, as a result of the capture of a large specimen in epipelagic hauls carried out in waters of El Hierro (Canary Islands), during the third cruise of VULCANO project (CTM2012-36317). Morphometric and descriptive data of the specimen are given and its geographic range in this part of the Atlantic is discussed
