Resumo

At the end of 1970 the Thorn Birds written by Australian writer Colleen Mccullough,is one of the classical masterpieces in the world. This novel describes three generation of women of the Cleary family in the patriarchal society encountering with all kinds of contradictions and conflicts, which reveals the feminism’s awareness of self-consciousness around the heroine Meggie in the story. The novel also analyzes the close relationship between nature and female, which has similar fate:they are in the oppressed situation. At the same time it shows that nature is the women’s refuge and spiritual home. The paper tries to use the imagery of the thorn birds to analyze feminism’s awareness of self-consciousness in the patriarchal society from the perspectives of eco-feminism.And the principle of coexistence of man and nature was revealed in the novel:man only respects for nature, and is in harmony with nature, and sets out to establish an ideal male-female relationship based on social equality, then there will appear a healthy and harmonious picture in the society.
